Hello folks. Hopefully you're all well and safe. As some of you may know, I am currently in the process of having my novel, Paint It Black, made into a movie. The subject matter is of great import because it deals with the plight of the African-American soldier in Vietnam during the turbulent year 1968.
The reason I chose to write it is because of the lack of stories about the Black experience in that war. Director Spike Lee has announced the release of a similar project soon. I am hoping that everyone gets a chance to learn from what story tellers, African-American in particular, have to say about what minorities had to experience in that conflict. As we heal from the wounds of Vietnam, we also deal with other disputes across the globe, as well as the pandemic that now engulfs us.
As we face these things, it is important to remember the lessons of the past. Until next time, remember God loves you and so do I.
